Community Engagement Event: Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) Shaping future mental health services together
1 May 2025 from 11:00 – 15:00
Rose Room, BMECP, 10A Fleet Street, Brighton, BN1 4ZE
In partnership with Diversity Resource International (DRI) and the Black Minority Ethnic Community Partnership (BMECP), Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust supported by its charity Heads On, are delighted to invite you to an event on 1 May 2025, at the BMECP in Brighton.
The Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) is a mandatory framework for NHS mental health Trusts and service providers, designed to address racial inequalities in mental health services. It aims to improve services for racialised communities by promoting diversity, co-production, and equity, while also increasing transparency and accountability in the mental health sector.
The aim of this engagement event is to share what we believe we understand about people’s experiences of our services, whether as service users or carers, and to hear directly from you about whether we’ve got it right, or if we’ve missed something important. It’s also an opportunity to answer your questions, challenge common myths about mental health services, share clear information on how to access support, and—most importantly—start building trust.
We’re pleased that Sussex Partnership’s Chief Executive, Dr Jane Padmore, and Chief Medical Officer, Dr Oliver Dale, will be joining us at the start of the event to show their support for this important conversation. We see this as the beginning of an ongoing dialogue—one where we listen, learn, and work together to improve our services. We warmly invite you to be part of shaping a more inclusive and equitable mental health service for our communities.
Refreshments and a hot lunch will be provided
To secure your place, please complete the form below and email to: spft.medicaldirectorate@nhs.net by no later than Thursday 24 April 2025.
