The vending machine

Free Sexual health and HIV testing

We have a digital vending machine in the waiting area of the BMECP Centre which dispenses rapid HIV self-test kits and home test kits for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The rapid HIV self-test kits are a simple to use mouth swab and do not require any blood

The vending machine is free, easy to use and has been designed with your needs in mind. It is a discreet and confidential way for you to test for infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV. You need to be 16 years or older and not have any symptoms to use this service. If you’re under 16 or have symptoms, you can contact Brighton Sexual Health service

Using the vending machine

To get a test kit from the machine you just need to answer a few quick questions and choose your test kit

If you choose a rapid HIV self-test you will have your result 20 minutes after doing the test. With the home STI test kit you do your tests in a convenient place and return them by free-post to receive your results

We’ll ask you a few simple questions such as your age and mobile number. We’ll help you choose the right test kit for you

The machine will then dispense it instantly. The test kit includes all the information that you need to complete the tests. You’ll get your results by text message after you return the samples in the post

If for any reason the machine is unable to dispense a test kit, you can order a home test kit from Brighton Sexual Health service
